Fault 2 of Cummins Diesel Generator Set In the operation of Cummins diesel generator sets, it is common to encounter the situation where the coolant does not circulate. This includes having large circulation but no small circulation, or having small circulation but no large circulation. This leads to rapid increase in cylinder temperature and sudden shutdown due to a rise in oil temperature, directly affecting the safe use of Cummins diesel generator sets.
The reasons for the coolant not circulating are as follows:
(1)The radiator fins of the Cummins diesel generator set are clogged or damaged. If the cooling fan fails to function or the heat sink is clogged, the temperature of the coolant cannot be reduced. If the heat sink is rusted and damaged, it can cause leakage and also lead to poor circulation.
(2) The thermostat of the Cummins diesel generator set is faulty. A thermostat is installed in the engine combustion chamber to control the temperature of the engine combustion chamber. The thermostat must be fully open at the specified temperature (82 degrees) to facilitate small circulation. (4)The coolant level of the Cummins diesel generator set is too low or does not meet the regulations. If the liquid level is too low, it can directly cause the coolant temperature to rise, preventing the coolant from circulating. According to regulations, the coolant should be 50% antifreeze +50% softened water +DCA4. If it does not meet the requirements, it will cause pipeline blockage and rust on the inner wall of the pipe, preventing the coolant from circulating normally.
(5)The water pump of the Cummins diesel generator set is faulty. Check whether the water pump is functioning well. If it is found that the transmission gear shaft of the water pump is worn beyond the limit, it indicates that the water pump can no longer function and needs to be replaced to ensure normal circulation.
